It's strange, because I can't quite wrap my head around what I am looking at - which I think is a big part of why I like it. There is this appealing surreal quality to it.
I feel like I am looking down on a piece of a miniature landscape, where the brown is very fine hot cocoa powder, intended to look like dirt.
But at the same time, I feel like I am looking out past tree branches, into space. But space is eerily brown, instead of black, and somehow the tree branches are casting a shadow on outer space.
And something about the roots or branches or whatever they are makes me expect them to start moving, stop-motion-like.
Haha, awesome Adam. Your second guess was right. It's looking straight up at a tree. Then I used my off camera flash for light.
I'm not entirely sure why it looks like shadows, but it does to me too. Only thing I can think of is that I had a long exposure so it might be the tree branches all blurry before I used the flash. But it was pitch black out, so who knows.

I like to colors a lot too. Not too sure why everything was so brown though. But that's what showed up once I took the picture.
