I probably take too many pictures of Sam. Whatever, it's good practice. Plus every other image I tried to take today was pure junk.

this photo is excellent.
i found myself studying the background a great deal. the black and white has made it very rich and i could not even tell what the background was until a few minutes passed. i now assume that is the canoe behind sam. at first glance I thought the canoe was a foggy marsh landscape or something. Very eery and different from the actual object. impressive.

Yeah that is the canoe behind her. It's funny how different people see a picture. I see it as pretty much as a snap shot of Sam simply because I know what was going on and what was behind her. Then you see it entirely different because you're unsure of where it was taken.
I do like how black and white does make photos more rich like you said. I think I might end up taking more B&Ws or maybe fiddling with saturation a bit.
